During the use of the filter element, it can be considered as a passage section that gradually decreases with the interception of solid particulate pollutants.

The flow of the filter element is the flow in the pipeline where the hydraulic filter is installed, and the filter element will not change the flow. With the interception of solid particle pollutants, the flow area of the filter element (hereinafter referred to as the flow area) becomes smaller, and the pressure loss generated by the filter element gradually increases. When a certain value is reached, the filter equipped with the transmitter will send an alarm through the transmitter to notify the user to replace the filter element in time.

If the filter element is not replaced in time, with the retention of pollutants, the flow area of the filter element will be further reduced, and the pressure loss will be further increased. In addition to the transmitter alarm, the bypass valve of the filter equipped with the bypass valve will also open, and some oil will flow directly from the bypass valve without going through the filter element. Even the pollutants intercepted by the filter element will be brought directly to the lower edge of the filter element by the oil through the bypass valve, so that the previous filter element will be intercepted and fail, which will cause great damage to the hydraulic system components.

But even if some of the oil flows out of the bypass valve, there is still oil flowing through the filter element. The filter element continues to retain contaminants. The flow area is further reduced, the pressure loss is further increased, and the opening area of the bypass valve is increased. During this process, the flow area of the filter element continues to decrease, and the pressure loss continues to increase. When it reaches a certain value (the value must exceed the normal operating pressure of the filter element or filter), and the pressure bearing capacity of the filter element or even the filter is exceeded, it will cause damage to the filter element and the filter housing.

The function of the bypass valve is to provide a short-term oil bypass function when the filter element cannot be stopped and replaced at any time (or on the premise of sacrificing the filter effect of the filter element). Therefore, when the filter element is blocked, the filter element must be replaced in time. Due to the protection of the bypass valve, the filter element cannot be replaced normally.

In order to provide reliable and reliable protection for the hydraulic system components, the engineers of PAWELSON® filter suggest that you should choose a filter that is not equipped with a bypass valve as much as possible.
